The Mobile3DTV project (www.mobile3dtv.eu) will demonstrate real-time broadcast of 3D Video over DVB-H channel. The demonstration platform includes a portable DVB-H transmitter and several portable DVB-H receivers and players ranging from 3D laptop and 3D UMPC both equipped with parallax-barrier type of auto-stereoscopic displays to 2D legacy devices. In addition, a mobile development platform based on TI OMAP 3540 will demonstrate real-time decoding of stereo video and displaying it on a high-quality auto-stereoscopic display by NEC LCD.

The Mobile3DTV consortium is formed by six partners: Tamlink Innovation-Research-Development Ltd., Finland; Tampere University of Technology, Finland; Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute, Germany; Middle East Technical University, Turkey; Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany; and Multimedia Solutions Ltd., Bulgaria. It is funded by the European Union 7th RTD Framework Programme and is supported by Texas Instruments providing the project's development platform and by NEC LCD providing the auto-stereoscopic display.
